BBT-500H-based "ultralightweight" rig

The driving force of the rig is a BBT-500H (500W@2ohms, 11.5 lbs, DSP preamp, 5 user-defineable settings). Currently I have it racked by itself in a 3-space shallow Gator molded rack for protection and minimal carry weight. I plug my Boss TU-12H tuner in and will set up my wireless when needed. I am considering moving it into a carrying bag of some sort to make it even easier to haul, but the molded rack provides max protection when loaded in the trunk with other gear.

Previously (and in the picture) it was racked with a Behringer BTR-2000 rack tuner (for input muting and switching), and a Sennheiser 1092D digital wireless. The rack weighs in at 28 lbs - a nice savings over the 45-50lbs my pre/power rack weighed but not as much as I had hoped. Also the Behringer tuner crackled/popped when muted/unmuted (so it was useless in the signal chain), the metronome only played through the combined signal output when input 2 (on the back of the tuner) was used (and the mute crackle/pop made it so that it wasn't good to have in the signal chain) and the green "in tune" light/led was useless outdoors. So it went back. The wireless, while great, uses a big old wall-wart which makes it a pain in the rack and only gets used for gigs so it's not necessary to haul around for rehearsals.

Although it's not shown in any of the pictures I sometimes slave a Carvin DCM-1000 power amp from the BBT and drive the cabs with that for more watts.

The cabs are 2 Avatar B112s (~18"x18"x15") and one Avatar SB-112 (the larger one). All were originally 8 Ohms. I swapped in 4 Ohm Eminence Neo 12s in the B112s which dropped their weight significantly (and they weren't "heavy" to begin with) and a 4 Ohm Eminence Delta 12LF into the SB-112 (same speaker, lower impedance). This lets me hit each speaker with 250W from the BBT instead of 125W. It does change how I can drive them from the DCM-1000. But I did a smaller outdoor gig with the BBT and a B112/SB112 stack and it was enough.

I prefer the midrange from the B112s and their smaller size. But the SB112 does get better lows (not unexpected since it's a bigger cab and a speaker with better low end performance). In the long run I'd like to pick up two EA Wizzy 12s to stay small/light and get the max output from the BBT. I'd also love to get a head I like the sound of that has some more output (a 1000W BBT would be great, as would an EA iAmp 800 with a few pounds shaved off of it).
