Tributes are G&L's import line but for some reason I prefer the sound of a Tribute JB2 to a US JB2. Odd as I prefer the construction of the US models but for some reason I like how the import pickups sound. I was looking for another Trib JB2 (I was without any at the time) and found this one used on ebay. It's nice and light and looks great and plays well.
I do think about having it modified with Hammon Engineering Darkstar pickups as I'm very curious about whether they would give me my "ultimate" bass sound. But for the time being I'm playing it as-is without even planning on doing the series/parallel mod using a push/pull pot that I've done on a previous Trib JB2.
I swapped necks and really like/prefer this burst/rw look to the original burst/maple. I'm not as sold on preferring
the natural/maple to the natural/rw but time will tell.
