Jaipur: Wind Palace, Amber Fort, City Palace, Observatory

We started the day at the Hawa Mahal or the palace of winds which was an extension of the city palace women's quarters. It was a place where the royal ladies could observer everyday city life without being seen. We just stopped and took a picture without going inside. Then we headed to the Amber Fort where we got to ride elephants up to the fort. On the hill above the Amber fort we could see the Jaigarh Fort which we did not visit. Then we went to the City Palace where the current Maharajah lives in part of the palace (not open to the public) and there are also some museums where we could not take pictures. Then we walked down the street to the Jantar Mantar - the observatory of Jai Singh II. The large silver jar was made for Maharaja Sawai Mado Singh to take Ganges water to drink while on a trip to England (there are two of the jars).
